Default sub frame connectors

I purchased a pair of Maximum Motor Sport full length connectors and went to have them put on by my mechanic. He was unable to do the work because of the tpe of lift that he has. He said that he is unable to get to the areas that needed to be welded because the lift would be in the way. How do you get the car off the ground far enough to do the work and still keep it level so that they are welded properly. I was thinking a pit but I think they are illegal in New jersey.
