Default KNOCKING above 2300rpm

it's more noticeable when it warms up, but my 91' GT starts knocking above 2300rpm. full throttle, half throttle...anything above 23 and it knocks. i have gotten it up to high rpm, maybe it damaged somethin...lifter? valve? anyway, thought you guys could help...thanks

Whats pretty high?

Have you adjusted the timing?It could be detonation.

adjusted timing back to +10...same thing. high rpm as in above redline.

Sounds like maybea bent valve or even a valve sticking.Maybe now would be a good time to pull the heads and havea look.

Try the 93 octane first though it could be simple detonation.But considering you have tweeked the timing and went back to 10 its doubtful.From what you said about rapping her up pretty tight i would lay money on a bent valve or even one sticking.

yeah, when i cut power to the 1,2, and 5 cylinders the knocking pretty much stopped. my instructor thinks rod bearings. the harmonic damper went out recently so it had some serious vibrations on it for about 20 minutes (the trip home). anyway, i'm looking into a 331 kit now. gmkiller, what kit do you have (i'm guessing that's what you have)? i was looking into the dss racing kit, but what else needs to be done to the block, heads, or anything else? or does it work with a bone stock setup? i just feel that it's pointless to tear down the motor and rebuild with a stock 302. but anyway, time to go shopping for parts, thanks.

all you need for a stroker is to get it bored .030 over. and the 347s (not sure about 331s) need block notching.

I have an EAGLE kit.Nice assembly i was very pleased.As for the machine work on a 331 its not much at all.I could have done it with a dremel but i had it done while the block was being done up at the machine shop.

where can i get the eagle kit? i haven't been able to find a website for them. i thought the bore was .040 over...maybe i misread. i've heard different things about the block clearance with 331's...so i guess i'll just wait and see.
