RE: 5.0 conversion
ORIGINAL: tims 88 4
i was just contemplating doing it it was kinda i way in the the future plan if a plan at all im noty sure i right now . just wanna get the 4 running again and begin on the 5.0 build up. my dad tells me that i should get rid of the 88 conv and get a newer car but yet he doesnt know the conv is here to stay. and is gonna be just as fast as his 06' charger daytona....my whole goal here is to have a great sounding stang and i want it to look as good as it sounds. but for now its the bare minimum of the motor trans axel and suspension... which makes more horsepower a carb or efi and what in anybodys opinion is better in cold and warm climate i live in md

RE: 5.0 conversion
the 2.3 is such a pain always having to work on it if it has oil pressure the trans was slipping and if the trans worked fine i had no op and i put a net radio in it and when i aint gopt no dash lights so i couldnt see the temp guage so there fore it over heated and is now sitting in my drive way and also due to the installation of the radio something caused it no to remember the stations and ervery time i turn on the headlights the radio turns off such a pain.................just b45 the motor was cooked the trans started slipping again

RE: 5.0 conversion
well. as is stated in my sig i have both a carbed 5.0 and a EFI 5.0 and to be honest the efi car is way better for starters the 82 is cold blooded as are most all carburated motors, and the 88 is quit a bit faster and it gets 18mpg average compared to 13 that my 82 gets.and you have to tune the carb to make it run right as with a efi car it is all controlled by the ECU i would have to say you can build 350hp easily with both systems there so many aftermarket parts for the 5.0/302 no matter what fuel system you run.
for gears it really depends on if you want to be fast or quick. and it depends on your motor as far as i know all the 5.0s came wiht 2.72s and 3.23s (sorry if im wrong i get chevys confused with stangs sometimes) i personally like 3.73s i went the cheap way of getting rear disc and 3.73s so i bought a thunderbird turbocoupe rear end they come stock wiht 3.73s and they are an 8.8" that bolts directly to mustangs and it has disc brakes. but if your going 350 hp i would get an aftermarket posi unit eventually.
i have centerforce stage 2 kits in both my cars and i love them they very firm and grippy granted my cars are neither highly modded. but i plan on making them faster so i went wiht the stage 2 once you get above the stage 2 the car gets unbearable to drive daily and a stage 1 might be too weak for your 350hp plans.

When you say..swap out the dash..you mean the guages from 2.3 to the 5.0's, right? I mean the dash wiring is the same weather its 2.3 or 5.0. I know the engine harness needs changed and ECU as well. And the intank fuel pump needs to be swapped, or so I have ben told.
