Default Cost to swap tranny

Hello I'm new so please be easy on me.

I am looking at getting a 87-93 Blue 5.0L 5 speed hatchback. I have found some decent ones with auto trannys and have looked at what it takes to swap. What I want to know is the approxamate price on parts. If it is worth my time or just wait till I find a nice 5speed car. Then let the modding begin. I am a Diesel mechanic by trade so working on stuff is not much of an issue.

of course you'll need mounts and clutch and all that other stuff too.

those two web sites should give you a good place to start looking though.

Trust me on this, if you can find a nice low mileage auto car...... "buy it". The AOD to T-5 swap is probably one of the most straight forward swaps that you can do. I just completed a AODE to T-5 swap on my 95 GT. It was super easy and only took one day to complete. Totally amazing how much power you gain from the T-5. For more info contact: www.prestigemustang.com and for a write up on the swap: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/25.shtml

Personally, I wouldnt do it. If you already had the car and you wanted to swap than go for it but your just looking for unnecessary work. Wait and buy a 5 spd.... you will save yourself time and money. Just my .02.

i did mine for 2500 lol well thats what the car cost and i wrecked it. but i found a nice auto car and changed it. the best thing to do is go around to junk yards and look to see if the have a complete 5spd car. if they do take all the stuff, if not take what you can. If they dont have anything talk to the owner of the junk yard and most of the time if he has a sale for something he will find a car so you can get what you want, and junk yards want 5.0 stangs so they are looking for them all the time. once you get the stuff you can PM me and i will walk you through it, its a easy job takes a day.
