and since nobody answered, a VSS is a Vehicle Speed Sensor, and yes the cruise control system needs this to funcion.

My car used to do that, once I cleaned all the sensors, IAC, EGR, etc, and added a new maf and tb, it stopped. Never knew what it was, but hear it is a common occurance.

so if that sensor is gone, will my cruise not work? becasue cruise stopped working... maybe they tie together.

Yes it is tied together, it can cause your speedo to not register correctly, cruise control not to work, etc. It is the actual connector for the speedo cable on the tranny for a T-5 car. It has one electrical connector on it, the entire unit unscrews from the tranny, you can get one off of 50resto.com

Mine is bad, and my speedo is not working but my cruise still works..
