is my car 12 capable yet?

its a 91 lx with cai, 73mm mass air, 75mm t body, cobra intake, gt40x heads, b303, 1.6 rollers, shorty headers into catted x pipe and flows, 3.55's, tko trans, 6al with blaster2 coil, and a/c and smog removed. cant wait to take it to e-town after a few more maintenance items, severely needs tires and need a radiator overflow tank. was wondering if it will be faster than my previous 02 gt that went 13.5 at 103. thanx

Only real way to know is take it to the track, or you can buy a G-tech.

depends. How is your suspension and what tires are you getting. With a few upgrades to the suspension and the some drags then yeah your in the 12's

yep, all in the tires, slicks - sure, street tires - will be close.

3.73's wouldnt hurt either

stock suspension, im going to the junk yard to get some 4 cyl. springs, and ill be getting drag radials with some weld prostars. its not tuned, should i get it dyno tuned? i know i have to upgrade to 24#injectors too, but money is tight.

Whats the car weigh? What HP are you putting down to the wheels? What kind of tires? Shocks? Springs? Launch RPM? Gear? Shift point? Control arms? How do you drive?

Get back to us. ;)

a tune will always help a modded motor. and the 19 arent hurting you too bad with what you have so far.

well, i have two places close by to do the tuning, crazy horse racing in south amboy and laracca's in oldbridge. anyone have opinions on the two? ive stopped into both, chris at crazyhorse is a pleasure to deal with, i got nothing but attitude from everyone in laraccas, but if they know how to tune then i can deal with it.

my convert went 13.5 with a e cam same otherwise, but i had 373, full trunk of stereo, and bad street tires, so yes your motor is capable, your launch will be crucial!

Do you mean La roccas? Cause they are very reputable. And you should go there despite the attitude

if you got power, and no suspension then no..you got to be able to plant it to the ground..

My friend has a very similar set up, same cam/intake stock suspension with 26 inch slick and a stock T5. He uses dart irons and with a 5000 rpm launch he runs mid 12'5. you have the power, just get the tires and leave hard and you are good to go

That 75mm TB is most likely going to hurt you more than it will help. I'd go down to a FRPP 67mm or a 70mm. You'll lose air velocity, especially if your MAF is smaller than your TB. That's one reason why a stock 5.0 benefits so much from a larger MAF.

If you can hook up and know how to drive it, I'd say you've got it.

I caught that too. Everywhere I've read says your MAF "should" be bigger than your throttle body.

i bought the car with the 75 tbody, i know it isnt ideal, but it still seems to have good low end grunt. how hard should i launch with the drag radials on my stock axles? i do know how to drive, so im not worried about that
