the car hasn't been dyno tuned i don't even know of such a place even close to where i live in the middle of PA, also which is my bigger problem most likely the convertor or too small a carb? the car is driven to the track and i cruise at almost 4000rpm at times. i'm sure a looser convertor will make that even higher right?

get the car dyno tuned... it will at least help with any questions you have with carburation...

if I were you I would chuck that performer 289,its a low-rise intake,I would put a rpm air gap or a torker.

the carb isn't box stock, the accel pump has been upgraded from 30 to 60 cc, main jets went from 54 to 58 and primary squirter is also bigger than stock but i don't remember what i think it is a 20 something, the cam is a b303 ford hyd roller with trick flow spring and retainer kit and 1.6 roller rockers
Ok, did you try it with the stock acc pump, jets and squirters? Your problem may be too much fuel at launch....NOT....not enough fuel.

Where in central PA are you? I'm in central PA often.

i live in williamsport pa and drive to beaver springs dragway on occasion.i've had the same problem from the beginning. each time i would play with the carb it would get a little better and if it got worse i would put it back the way it was before.i belive my set up now is to have the accel pump to pump more fuel over a longer period of time because a really big squirter hurt the performance made it bog worse

Williamsport is nowhere close to where I call central PA.
