I agree with GM. An Edelbrock is for a street driver. A Holley or Barry Grant is more of a "racing" carb. Edelbrock makes a 500 CFM and 600 CFM in both manual and electric choke. New they run around $225.00. Go to ebay as well. There is a ton of 600 CFM Edelbrocks on ebay right now ranging from used for $60.00 to new around $200.00.

A simple thing might be to remember that the amount of air consumed by the engine is determined by displacement and speed. I've seen the figures on that kinda like what red347 was saying. I don't think a 302 hits 650 CFM untill about 6000 RPM or something like that. If you're not going to run it that fast, a bigger carb will do you no good.

Kevon is correct. An engine will only consume what it needs. It all goes back to the VE of the motor. You will never know what is consumed unless you Dyno the engine. This is why you start with the basic formula. CI x RPM / 3456 = CFM

347 CI x 8000 RPM / 3456 = 803 x 101.6 VE (measured on Dyno) = 816 CFM.

I selected a ?

How am I gonna know which exact carb is gonna fit on top of my intake manifold? I dont wanna buy something off ebay and get screwed. I havent really tore the engine apart yet so i dont know what type of manifold is on there. I'm looking to get more speed with what i got. Like i said before i gotta take a picture of the engine and get it up here.

The 600 CFM Edelbrock for 289-302 Manual choke is a Part Number 1405 and the Electric choke is a 1406. Prices are (new) $234.95 and $265.95. You can also buy a re-manufactured carb from Jegs or Summit for $187.00 for the manual and $195.00 for the electric. You will need a Ford linkage adapter for the Edelbrock that sells for about $20.00 + new gaskets of course. Or Ebay....just like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2463904319

I know it says Mopar but these carbs fit a lot of intakes.
