Default Is this car worth getting?

Sorry if this isnt the right forum, but I need some help!

I'm looking at buying a friend's '90 GT and I've never owned a mustang before and need to know if the price is right.
It's a GT 5.0 hatchback with 140k miles, engine was rebuilt around 100k
5-Speed transmission was rebuilt and has about 2k miles on it.
It's got a cobra clutch and racing flywheel and upgraded gears (dont know exactly what) and an Off-Road H-Pipe (no cats)
Other than that, engine appears stock. Overall inerior/exterior are about in keeping with how old the car is...

My friend wants 3500 for the car, the blue book is only about 2k at most... is the car worth it?

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide!

Even if it has some cosmetical problems thats a good deal. Rebuilt tranny and engine. I mean if it has a HUGE dent and a lot of cancer on it then you should probably pass it off but if its got a couple dents here and there and doesnt look bad then yes. Get it.

It's ok, no paint peeling or fading. Front has lots of rock chips in it. Windshield also has a small crack I believe.
I certainly wouldn't qualify it as extravagant tho.

Starting to sound like this car is a [sm=badidea.gif]

If you know the guy and he has taken care of it wouldn't be a bad deal.
If you like it then go for it.

The car definately needs a little TLC here and there cosmetics wise, but nothing too extensive or difficult - And after all, it is a 16 year old car. I just wasnt sure if the mechanical parts justified the cash.

Assuming that you know for sure that the rebuilds were ACTUALLY DONE, that sounds like a reasonable price. But then I live in an area where NOTHING is reasonably priced.

Having said that, I'm not psychic, but I have a feeling that if you wafted 3 grand under his nose, he would take it.

ya, exactly. money talks. and another thing, foxes never go for KBB value. once you become familliar with foxbodys, you will realize that KBB is just a waste of time.
