prices on notchbacks
i'm new to the mustang world. i'm a former and still current Chevy owner and i'm looking to buy a lightweight, notchback Mustang, preferably 87-93 and build it into a streetdemon. just wondering what these go for in general with a T-5 manual and 302. thanks for the help

Yea, there alot that can cause a price to go up or down. You have to figure the condition of the interior, body, paint, windows, motor, trans, suspension, any leaks, modded or not modded, mileage, etc. There are way too many factors to give a price.... now if you say the price of a decent condition notch w/ 70-120K on it that would be different.

well, i'm planning on building my own motor for it, but not for a while. i'd say i'm looking for one in decent to good shape, maybe 135K on the clock at most, strong motor and trans, no leaks, and no mods. what'd u say?

135k on a 302 is not alot.. by ANY means...
bought my LX with 152k bone stock and it easily breaks loose in 2nd.. i'd say it's got lots of horsepower/torque left in it [8D]
as for the weight difference, a notch is a good 200-400lbs lighter than a hatch but a hatch can easily be made lighter by replacing a few parts with OEM fiberglass parts (hatch, doors, fenders, etc)
by replacing the rear hatch alone with fiberglass i'd say ur losing atleast 100 lbs right off the bat
im assuming this car is going to see some track time?
i'd say a notch weighs 2800, including driver.
my hatch is about 2800 with nothing in it

it'll be a street/strip car, probably running around 650-750 ponies by the time i'm done with it, maybe more if the funding is there and i decide to run it strip full-time. how long do u think the 302s last mileage-wise while still retaining a decent amount of power? i know the LT1s in the T/As and Zs can run upwards of 300000mi before major engine work.

woooah 650hp? that is actually too much man.
i wouldn't push any more than 450hp tops. these cars are hard to keep control and with that much power you would need some serious suspension work and reaally fat tires.
a 300hp fox can hit LOW 12's and HIGH 11's with slicks
mind you that is with the stock 302, too...
