Default temp gauge doesnt work

ok. my temp gauge doesnt work. are the sensors known to go bad or is it just my gauge? and is there a way to test the sensor with a volt meter?

Disconnect the wire at the sensor. Ground it and the gauge should read full hot. If it does, the gauge is ok.

You can check the connection, if it's ok, replace the sensor.

well i didnt have a problem with coolant overflow, but then i "burped" the sytem and it was fine. ive also had some stuttering problems after 90 minutes of running, that rarely happened after i changed my timing and put my headers on. i just tested my sensor with a multimeter and its shot, in case you were wondering.

not to ***** the thread...but my temp gauge hardly moves when running, then when i shut it off, it goes up a little more, but still not much. One time however I did catch it reading right in the middle whats the dilly-o?
