hp estimate
I know this is probably a question that comes up all the time but I am to cheap to put my car on a dyno and would like to know how much horses I'm
A. Putting to the ground
B. off the flywheel
These would be estimates of corse unless someone has the same setup as me.
1987 mustang GT, 306 with port and polished stock heads, GT40 valvetrain, 3:73 gears, flowmaster mufflers, underdrive pulleys, and a 65 mm throttle body
1/4 mile estimates are also welcome
thanks

RE: hp estimate
assuming 9 to 1 compression, I would say probably around 270-290 at the crank, and prob around 230-245 at the tires... it's really tough to say though... what trans, and what kind of porting are we talking about...

RE: hp estimate
Cheapest dyno you can run on is the track. Get your car weighed and go to the 1/4 mile track. Take your MPH not your ET and go to TCI/s website and use their calculator. Make sure you add your weight into the car as well. This will tell you the power to the tires and count on an 80% loss to the tires from the flywheel. Cheap and accurate way to find you HP.

Lol, people think I make 280+ when I tell them my mods. Dynoed 244. Get over it. Run her and find out, dyno numbers dont mean **** anyways, its how the car performs! (stalled auto unlocked Vs M5 tranny...if they get = power the Mt is in for a total raping.)

I had a trans am ownign friend of mine hop in my car and drive it once, and he swore it had over 400horses to the tires.... I told him now way,. Stock 302 with cobra intake, 6 lb powerdyne, and a chunk missing out of the #8 piston... probably made more like 260 to the tires if that.... but don't get me wrong still very fast for a daily driver..

thanks for all the advise guys expect chath_brick.
With that kind of comment it seems as though this guy is posting only to become a 4th gear member...figures comming from a guy driving a vert
Just got back from the dyno last week and producing a healthy 363 at the wheels.
