Default Timing a 93' 5.0

I just put a new set of heads on my stock block 302. They are a set of GT40 heads that are ports 1.94 exhaust and 1.60 intake, race flow valves and roller rockers. I'm having a hell of a time getting it to fire off. I was told that possibly the compression might be an issue. I'm not sure if thats the problem. I have a E303 cam in it as well. Is the compression going to be a problem? I need help on getting the inital timing set up too.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! [:@]

Are you sure that your not off 180 degress on the distributor? I was when I put in a trick flow intake. The way to check is to hand crank the engine over with the distributor in once your on tdc (top dead center) check the rotor. If it's not pointing to the number one position the your off. Try that.

When you say number one position are you talking about the #1 piston or # 1 wire on the distributor?

the compression isn't the problem...run up the no 1 cyl to top dead center then look at your dist to see if it's pointing to the no1 wire terminal

I am pulling my heads off really soon, and just to make sure when I install my roller rockers, TDC on #1 is when both valves are closed when the piston is all the way up, right?
