biglg, it sounds like you're alright.

But let me clarify on point: at idle, you'r at A-L, but at a higher RPM you drop down to R-M? Lower oil pressure at higher RPM? That means something. Let me know...

But one thing to consider: the gauge reads N-O-R-M-A-L, and you're staying within that range. Just saying.....

Ground pounder,
Thanks for the reply. Let me clear this up.

N
O
R
M
A
L

My gauge reads normal like this. At idle it is around L-A. With acceleration or higher RPM's it is in the R-M letters. It seems to bounce at idle. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks.

put a new sending unit on it and see what happens. if its the same with 140k on the clock i would do a rebuild.

+1 ^^
and then see what you get. Cheap check - sending units are nothing to buy and install.

EDIT - what viscosity are you using and what oil filter? With 140K ticks, it matters...

I am using 10-30 synthetic blend. I live in MO where the weather is a variety of temps. What do you guys recommend to use?

Word. I'm thinking of a high volume, normal pressure pump versus a high pressure pump.
Prior to my problems, motor ran 80 psi cold and leveled off at 50 or so. I'm wondering if I may have "washed" a bearing. I may never know, but 50-65 psi at normal operating temps just seemed like overkill.
Do a little research before you go w/ the Hi vol pump....I've heard bad things about those from guys that worked at Dallas Mustang. Granted, I don't know exactly why they said they are bad. My guess is pump longevity due to extra strain and maybe extra tq on the oil pump driveshaft....just throwing that out there.

I heard similar resuts, about the HV pumps for some reason they break, or something goes wrong with the HV pumps, the put extra stress on certain parts.

That may be some of your problem. I would try running 10W40 or even 15W40. Personally I run 20W50 in my car. Also, Synthetic will run lower oil pressure cause it seems to be a little thinner than conv. of the same weight.

creepshow,

I just purchased this car from a guy in CA. I live in Missouri, completely different climates. The car is basically stock, and the seller of the car said he had been running 20w50. I thought that was crazy on a stock car.

WHAT OIL DOES EVERYONE RECOMMEND TO USE ON A BASICALLY STOCK 5.0 THAT IS A DAILY/CASUAL DRIVING CAR. THIS CAR IS IN MISSOURI, SO THE WEATHER ISNT VERY CONSISTENT. IT MAY BE 30 TODAY, OR 75 TOMORROW. WINTERS GET DOWN TO TEENS AND LOWER, SUMMERS 90 AND 100. I NEED A GOOD OVERALL ENGINE OIL TO USE ALL YEAR ROUND. THANKS.
