Default To manual shift or not ??

I building my 93 fox into a decent street/strip car, its got a strong mild build 302 in it mated to a FMX tranny and a 373 rear, I love the FMX geared lower than a c4 and built like a tank, my main question is, which is actually faster which produces the best 1/4 et's, shifter the tranny yourself, or installing a shift kit and stick the thing in drive and let it shift itself, me personally i think shifting manually is faster cause i can shift at say 5000rpm versus the tranny will shift itself at say 3500 rpm, but i havnt been to the track to actually see which one is faster anyone want to help me out so i know to either buy a shift kit, or buy a pro ratchet shifter lol thanks

i would just keep it in drive and once u know u got traction keep ur foot to the floor

its going to shift perfectly everytime (unless ur tranny goes whack)

manual is more fun on the street, while auto is more consistant at the track
and can take more abuse than a manual

shifting yourself doesn't give the most consistant runs. you hafta be a really good driver to hit consistant numbers manual shifting, an automatic shift will give you a lot more consistancy in your runs. as well there is no lag time during shifts, it kicks into gear way faster than you can do by hand. But personally i love manual shifting, thats why im leaving mine manual.
