ok, so i just randomly got a bad misfire under load. at idle it sounds ok, and then when i start to move it feels like there is a plug wire off. i check all my plugs and they are all a whitish color. i know this is form being lean, but i dont know why im lean. i saw in another thread that a plug wire touching a header can cause a misfire. i notice a few of my plug wires were touching the headers. i moved em and still have the problem. the wires do look a bit damaged from touching the headers though. this is my daily driver so i need help ASAP!!!!!!

is it necessary to get high performance wires on a stock engine?

I wouldn't say it is necessary. I run the ford racing wires, work good. You aren't going to get more power on a stocker with better wires.
