smog pump...worth eliminating?

smog pump...worth eliminating?
is it worth taking the smog pump off? somebody told me it sucks as much as 12 horsepower, and other sources have told me it only draws about 1/2 HP.

no, we dont have emissions in maine. we have inspections but they dont check for that stuff. so is it worth taking off?

Getting rid of all the pipes and valves sure frees up a lot of space to get to the spark plugs...

Yeah, its just a street car. If there's not a huge difference then i'll probably just leave it, at least until i put underdrive pullys on.

My car still has all the emission stuff, plus a blower. No problems cuz of it. Passes emissions w/ flying colors.
