Default Stupid dumb *** question!

How do you do a brake stand with a 5spd?Let the clutch out and tramp the breakes and the gas at the same time?Is there a proper way to do this? And is it all right to shift through your brakestand?

I dunno about a 5Spd...i've got a 5spd, but i've never done a breakstand, only burnouts while moving, but i've tried in an Automatic. You hold the breaks down, and then floor the gas, and let the brake out slowly, and there will be a point where they kind of balance each other out, and you'll start your wheels spinning. I'm sure it's somewhat similar with a standard tranny.

rev it up, dump the clutch, and slam the brakes. I have a badass video of my cousin doing a powerbrake (same thing), too bad I can't convert VHS to the comp, or I'd post it.

hey, i got a 5 speed and all i do is put my heel on the brake and put my toes on the gas then lighly bring on the clutch and push the gas at the same time while holding the brake at the same time. this theory is called side stepping. or the other thing you can do is buy a line loc kit from jegs and when you push the brakes down it only puts pressure to the front brakes. that made it a lot easier and less destructive on my car. good luck with your car,

That's actually brake-standing...

I'm talking about starting in 2nd gear, most people don't have the torque a 408 turbo does.
