Default 88 T-5 Headaches!!

I need a good tranny guy to answer this. This freakin car will go into gear fine with engine off, once it is running, it won't even dream about going in. It just grinds and grinds, if it's started in gear it'll move until you want to shift. Is this tranny or clutch?

Replace the clutch cable and add a new quadrant and firewall adjuster and i bet thatll do it i had the same problem. Its a cheaper route than just going and getting your trans rebuilt. Youll know if you do have to get it rebuilt if the cable is replaced and still doesnt work

It's gotta be something with the 88's. My first tranny never quite engaged right. . . it seemed like it would always grind cold and shift hard. . . maybe that's why it blew. . . If you have the money, replace it with a tremec and get a good clutch like a king cobra or a centerforce if you're pushing a lot more hp than stock.

The quadrant, cable, and firewall adjusters usually come in pkg's for under $100. that would be a good place to start. Don't drive it until you get that fixed b/c if you're tranny is still good, it won't be for long.
