RE: what are the best heads i can use
AFR's... if you are keeping it a 302 than go with 165's... you could go with 185's if you really wanted to also. Do you plan plans of stroking it?

ORIGINAL: 88BlueGT AFR's... if you are keeping it a 302 than go with 165's |
RE: what are the best heads i can use
You can bore/stroke it to a 331 or a 347 but it will cost some cash. Are you willing to spend 3K for a 331 w/ heads?

RE: what are the best heads i can use
Yeah, I was gonna say something similar to Blue^^^^. It depends what you are doing exactly.
If you rebuild your bottom end w/ notched pistons, you could run 185's w/ a cam and 1.7's w/ no problems, but if you are keeping the bottom end stock, you'll be more limited as to what you can use. You can go w/ an E cam or TFS Stage 1 and 1.7's w/ TFS Twisted Wege's and "most likely" have the clearance you need. AFR's don't have the rotated valve's like the TW's, so you're more limited as to what cam/rocker's you can run on a stock bottom end. DSS and CHP sell 331 short blocks for under $2k w/ forged pistons... |
RE: what are the best heads i can use
^^ Plus another 1300 for heads and you have a nice longblock to work with. Than just upgrade your rear, some trans work, some supension work, upgrade injectors, fuel pump, manifold, tb, mass air, u/l intake, test & tune.
