T5 swap Q
Ok so i was talking to my dad last night about my plans for a t5 swap and he was asking me if the swap is legal to do. i know it sounds like a stupid question but is a t5 swap actually legal in CA. i figured it was but then he brough up the fact that when you get your emissions test done the guys look at your vin and they can tell if it's supposed to be an auto or manual, now i'm questioning it. i have a buddy at a smog shop that was going to call but i figured i would ask you guys first? what do ya think?

honestly i dont think they care. the only reason i am asking the question is so my dad will stop bitching at me about it. he has it in his head that if the vin doesn't match the specs of the car, ie aod, then they wont smog it or w/e, but my feeling behind it was that your vin tells you what color the car is and you can change that ****... so why cant you change the trans.
