help with a VIPER alarm
Hey guys, went to go pick up the new toy today. ('92 Mustang GT)
I get there and the guy had a new battery for it, I know it needed a new battery, so we go to swap it in, and when we connect the battery, the VIPER alarm starts going off. He says he hasnt had any problems with the alarm since he broke the key fob, (he said about a year ago). Now the car wont start because the alarms going off, and we cant bypass it because he didnt put it in and doesnt know where the brain for the alarm is. I looked around for a while, and found a little box about the size of an ice cube that seemed to flash whenever the alarm was going off. It looks too small to be the actual brain for the alarm, does anyone have any suggestions? I guess his neighbor or someone he knows is an installer for best buy or circuit city or something so he is going to come over and take a look at it, but does anyonoe have any ideas? It was reallly disappointing, let me tell you, to get all excited to go get her and not even be able to start it. any ideas please??

RE: help with a VIPER alarm
when you disconnect the battery it should automatically reset the alarm. When you hook the battery back up the alarm will go off until you push the remote to "unarm" it. It should start up fine.
I had this same problem and it worked for me.

RE: help with a VIPER alarm
the piece you have is the shock sensor. There should be a small black momentary push button somewhere under the dash. Put the key in and turn it on, push the botton fer a sec, then releast and wait 3 secs.........

Look under the dash for where it is spliced into the ignition switch. Disconnect the wires and put the 2 wires for the ignition switch back together. Problem solved and just but a new alarm. Or you may be able to find a retailer that sells Vipers and get a new fob programed for it.

yeah the plan right now is that the kid i bought it off of is callin our local viper dealer and seeing what they can do. I will try the ignition wires if all else fails tho. thanks for the input.

RE: help with a VIPER alarm
ok this goes out for evrybody on here.. the easiest way to do this is look for what is called the valet switch.. its a little black or red button located near the dash or under the dash depending on who installed it.... it could also be on the kick panal... ok this is what you do, put the key in the ingition turn it forward and push and hold the button untill the alwar chirps... the light on the dash should be solid. now its in valet mode and you can take it to your local dealer and get a new remote programmed and be on your merry way with your new car...
