Ive heard from other people that those Motive gears whine like mother ****er.

go 3.73 or up...don't do 3.55, they work best on manuals.

Man I am thinking about a new set myself, I see that I can get 3.73 from 5.0 Resto for $150, while the 4.10s are $180. How hard are these things to install, and should I get a rear end master bearing kit while changing this?

do what you can afford on the rearend. you get what you pay for, and if you do it right it'll last a lot longer. I would have it professionally installed unless you have a lift.

I work at BMW, and have access to a lift so that isn't a problem it if is necessary to use. As it what else is required to install one besides fluid, I was reading the instruction from ford and it seems that I might have to a get a kit that includes bushings. Also summit has 3.73s for $145, free ship +$10 tax for me. I look at my door tag and it said M, which is 2.73, you think 3.73 is a pretty big difference, I think it would. I have an AOD.

You'll need crush sleeve, ring gear bolts, pinion bolt, shims, and pinion seal at the minimum. I ordered a kit off Summit from ratech for about $35 that includes all that. The Ford racing ring and pinion gears included pinion shims, crush sleeve, and pinion nut, but no carrier shims.

So what is the difficulty about this project, is it more or less the part of meshing the gears correctly?

i have 373 in a 5 speed, i liked them untill i installed my sc, when i blow my reaer i will go down to a 355, im running out of first gear way to quick, however... if i had an auto, and didnt have to shift myself, + extra hp loss through the auto i wouldnt hesitate to go 410.
