Default 1989 GT Air intake

Jut a question on the air intake. When i was taking my fender off o found another box connected to the air filter box, this looks like the intake for the air.
The question I have would I bennifet connecting a hose to it and run it to the front of the car so when i am driving I would be able to suck more air in??

Any ideas?

Thanks Rob

lol

It's the stock baffle/silencer. Take it out. Just 2 bolts and some muscle.

What does a baffle/silence r really do for the intake? I wanted to take it out it was a bitch taken out the nuts for the fenders with this in. But if i can take it out and not worry about anything messing up I sure will

So it is ok to take it out any pros or cons to taking it out.
Sorry i an new and just learning things but you guys really help
thank you

no cons, ford installed them to reduce sound , by reducing airflow.
it restricts air, reducing sound and also reduces hp by about 3-5

i would keep it around but take it off for sure, not too many around w/ them anymore.

it'll pick up a couple horses and sound slightly louder ( hardly noticible though)

make sure you get a k&n filter to take full advantage of it too.

The only reason it is there is because in 1987 ford wanted to "tone down" the fox a little bit. Just take it out and it's just as good as having a cold air intake. There are two bolts and a clip after you take out the air cleaner box and it should just muscle out of the bottom of the fender. If you dont have the fender off that is. No it wont harm anything. No cons...just pros.
