how hard can this be??
I am in the market for a set of subframe connectors, I think. My 89 is a prety much bone stock 5.0 non ho motor. I want to start building my suspension before i make my plans for a new block. This is my first american v8 powered car and im not quite shure which way to go. I have found a set of subframe connectors that can be bolted or welded in. Which is the best way to go? If I go bolted is this something a good general mechanic can do? (I change my own oil, plugs, alternators. This set looks like its going to run me about 45 bucks. Good deal? Thanks for all the info

The best way is to go both!
I have SVO subframe connectors from ford motorsport and they were the bolt in style and i welded them in.
The trick and the most important part is to get the car raised EVENLY!You need to put it on a lift and not jackstands or a jack. The car needs to go on a lift.I have a buddy who owns a muffler shop with some killer liftes use a level to insure that you are level at all times.
And i cant stress this enough BE CAREFUL OF THE FUEL LINES AND BRAKE LINES!I used a couple of rags soaked in water and wrapped the lines in and used a spray bottle with water in to spray on the rags every few minutes.
I however did because the wire feed jammed and i couldnt see the wire hit a brake line and had to replace it so be careful. That **** is a bitch!
If you arent able or willing to try it go to a reputable shop and have it done for you.

Im not saying a rack.
Im saying a drive on lift. The car needs to be resting on its tires to get it right. You can not put it up on a rack or a support that lifts from the bottom of the car.Only one that has all 4 tires resting on the lift like a drive on lift.

My buddy said that when he installs them he charges 50-100 bucks to install them.I havent checked around to get any prices since i can weld. But i think it sounds about right hes an honest guy and seems to be able to beat everyones prices.

I had mine welded on by a reputable shop for $100. They even painted over the areas where they had to grind and weld. I recommend you get a good shop to do this for you, usually a suspension specialist has done plenty of these and knows what they are doing.
