oil level sensor

RE: oil level sensor
Me? ha ha ha. I got leaks from everywhere. Stock gaskets + Turbo at 6 to 8 PSI of Boost = leaks everywhere. [:@] ha ha ha. But I still love my car more than you could imagine. My girlfriend actually gets jealous of it.

Do I need to drain the oil to replace the sensor and gasket? I'm no mechanic but want to learn how to take car of my car and got no info about changing the sensor in the Haynes manual...

Mine is actually a hybrid turbo. It has Holsett housings and I think a garret cartdridge. It's always a good idea to drain the oil after changing something that could introduce dirt or grit to the oil. See if you can take the sensor out first without drainging the oil. Once you replace the sensor and gasket then change your oil. Also couldn't hurt to run one quart straight thru before putting the drain plug back in. That way if any dirt or grime was on the threads of the sensor and you broke some of it loose and it fell into the pan then your have a good chance of getting it out so you don't have that in the system.

Yes, drain the oil. Otherwise, it'll be draining when you pull the sensor out
Welcome aboard and congrats on the ride. I know you have low miles, but if you're going to boost, I would build a more solid motor for this reason--->>>>>from the people I've talked to, once you start using boost of anykind, you just want more and more. The stock block is only capable of ~8 psi or so before you start pushing it. On the otherhand, you could do a Holley Systemax, Trickflow, or Edelbrock top end kit w/ bolt-ons on your stock motor and be pushing over 300hp to the ground. then when you need to rebuild later on, build it for boost and watch the big #'s come rolling.

Where can you get a replacement one? And does the replacement ones bring a new plug? The little plastic part that the wires go into that is touching the sensor itself broke a while back and didn't know if that little plastic piece was part of the sensor or part of the wire harness.
