Hi Everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 w/auto tranny. The transmission delays when shifting from 1st to 2nd and then 2nd to 3rd. The engine revs up and if I let up on the throttle it will eventually shift on its own. I am able to manually shift from 1st to 2nd then third, etc. Any ideas? Is there a sensor that could be bad? Has anyone else seen this? This is under normal driving, not gunning it. Also, this is an overdrive transmission.

Could be the clutch slipping or the gears going out... Basically your going to need to rebuild the tranny. Don't drive the car very hard and it will last you a while if you flooring it, your waisting reusable parts in there for the rebuild.

well i have a 94 with auto my 3rd used to do the same thing it wouldn't shift unless u let go of the gas then gave it more gas it is just that your gears are going it happened to me so i would get it checked out
