what is the factory set timing for 5.0's, specifically 1989. thanks

i thought factory was 10*btdc thats what i was told and its the same for all 5.0's but i was told the factory doesnt really mean anything because every car will run different like mine doesnt like to be advanced to much or else she starts to talk back and the carb will back fire

Yep, 10* base. You should be able to advance it to ~12-14 depending on your car. You may need to go w/ higher octane gas depending how high you want to advance it, but 12ish should be safe for 87.
