Why do people relocate the battery to the trunk?

Room for a nice fat turbine supercharger. And better weight distribution. Or something.

I think mainly for better weight distribution and to get some weight off the front end of the car.

see those wires that connect to your battery? Take them and extend them to your trunk and viola. You have a relocated battery.

is the relocation actually benefitial for a street car? I cant really see the benefit being all that noticable

it helps a little on weight distrubutiion which could help on handling
