building other 302..
ive got a 88 f150 with a 302, i was thinking of building it.. i know just curious the differences betwen it and the HO
i know the pistons, cam, intake, are the heads the same? are anything else different?
i was planning on using the shortblock, putting a mild top end on it.. would the pistons in it be fine??? what compresion would it have, etc...

RE: building other 302..
I believe the block is be roller ready, you just need to drill and tap the lifter spider bosses in the valley. The heads should be the e7te's...the cams going to build more of a broad torque curve to move the truck, but everything you can put on a mustang 302 can be put in a later truck 302...
Compression should be about the same 9.0:1... check compression, should be around 140-150, but if it's lower than that and they're around 10% of each other, it should be decent. Then just do a leakage test so you can find out if it's the valve seals or what. Then you will know whether or not the shortblock will be good.
The timing chain cover water pump and such are the same
The 87 trucks still used the old TFI like the cars also...
