See Tim, working in a collision center and how we get and mix paint is totally different.

I'd imagine if you bought it out right or even got it from a body shop they'll mix the color you want.

See, when we make a color there's tons of toners that are like colors themselves and we mix as much as we need then use it up.

i've never had to buy a color I've wanted nor know how much HOK would cost by the gallon, I know it ain't going to be cheap though. Probably in the 600-700 range.

when u buy paint does it tell you how to mix it? how much do u think a gallon of redfire metallic from house of kolor would cost?

Plus you're going to need reducer and clear.

I'm talking to the painter where I work as we speak and he figure HOK would be closer to $1G/gal.

Single stage = color is sprayed and will be shiny.

Two stage = lay down base then a clear coat

We have these sticks that go into the cans where there's three columns of numbers...where ever the paint/base ends up being on the stick number wise, you go up to that same number with reducer on the next column.

Listen...
just got into and accident and decicded to repaint the car. Fist open up the doors, hood, and trunk. Scuff it up to get most of the paint off but not all the way down to bare metal. For your car since its black,, it will be gray. They after done sanding with 3M products "the best" color sand the car with water and like 800 grit to get the clear coat off. And sand the rest of the cars. Tape up and paint.

You know how long it's going to take to "scuff" to "almost metal" when you don't have to?

And how is his car going to be gray when it's black? I don't understand...

No need to use 800 unless he's filled and primed and needs to block it out.
