RE: Painting questions
Damn Tim your stealing my color! I tell you last night I'm going to paint my car red fire, now today your going to paint your car that color. Oh well I don't have the time to paint my car. My car needs to go to a body shop and get all my dents pulled.

If you want to get it bare with hardly any work try a gallon of ditzler aircraft remover. You really need to get all the old flaking stuff off before you start spraying. A laquer based primer thinner will soak into the old paint and crack right thru if they shot laquer B4 you.
I always use the etching coat or epoxy primer over bare metal, lay mud over that ( the good stuff thats not hygroscopic, use guide coats of black laquer, then fill and sand or fast build. Afterwards, wetsand, sealer, and then paint. Also, HVLP helps save alot of money and material.

yep, wetsand yer fast build laquer based primer first. You'll need a bigger tip for yer gun or it might clog. It's thick, so throw some marbles or steel bearings in yer gun to keep it mixed if you have down time due to a small compressor.

RE: Painting questions
Don't mask with newspaper, the primer, paint, etc will bleed through on trim windows etc.
Use the chemical stripper with gloves & glasses. Tape the fender seams, hood seams, before the stripper, it should be a paste. Don't let it get in the seams. Let it sit, let it do the work not you, use a plastic scraper to get it off. Hard spots, use corse steel wool with the stripper.
Talk to yer paint supplier about metal prep, wax and grease remover, sand paper, masking tape, etc.
Oh yeah, Respirator!! Ask the paint shop about chromates in yer materials or Isocyanites, harmful, VOC's etc. You need more than a paper mask, even with some body fillers or primers than contain chromates.
