a few more things to consider...

the difference in weight between gt hatch and lx hatch is basically only a few things...

gt has fog lights, lx doesn't
gt comes standard with power locks/windows/steering/air conditioning/tilt/power lumbar
gt has side skirts

lx will never have fog lights
lx has no side skirts, and smaller front/rear bumpers (altough I'm not sure about the weight difference there)
lx can have power everything also, but standard option does not have them.... these p/w p/l a/c and p/s are things we take for granted some times...
Also, the GT will always come with V8 factory... the lx hatch/coupe/conv can also come in 4 banger mode.... because of this, I would say that that statement about decent lxs being harder to find may not be true... but then again, now you're also looking at the motor/trans/rear swap

Nobody mentioned insurance premiums. Call your insurance company with a LX,GT vin number.

my LX 5.0 was cheaper to insure than my monte carlo 5.0

by about 10-15%

i bought a notch because i love the look and the weight difference is not that much so go with whatever you think looks better

I like the LX hatch or notch, they look meaner and more agressive, not wearing a skirt like the GT....
