Default power window problem

the driver's side power windows in my '95 will barely go up and down, they'll go up and down if you hold the button and physically move them (there is some power getting to them) but they wont move on their own. a friend of mine has this exact problem on his '87. its only the driver's side windows, but its both the front and back windows, which means it probably isnt just the motor or a problem with one individual window. anybody know how to fix this? is it a common problem? i dont want to rip the door apart and replace the motor and stuff and have that not even be the problem. the guy i bought the car from said its the regulator but he was an idiot and was wrong about some other stuff so i wanted some expert opinions.

i had problems with mine too.

ended up being a corroded relay
up behind the dash. that might be your problem
if a short or bad circuit is acting like a big
resistor.

finally just had to take mine in. $300 to find a $5 part.

mine does it frequently

i usually try "assisting" it first and if that dosnt work i bring it down a little and wait a minute and it always works then...

i did have to leave it down for a couple minutes in the rain once but oh well

More than likely a slow motor is a bad motor!

sounds like a common problem. i'll check out that relay, that might be it. i really dont think its within the door because both windows do the same thing, so its not the motor or anything.

sounds exactly like mine when the motor was going bad. Of course i never had 2 go simultaneously. Was it like that when you got it? If so they could definitely both be going. If not and they both started acting this way at the EXACT same time then its less likely but still possible its the motor. Hopefully its an easy fix tho...

yeah i bought the car that way, so i have no idea if they went at the same time. i could call the guy i bought it from and ask, but he's about as smart as a box of crackers.
