RPMs sticking at 2K - please h

I just bought the car ('90 LX Notch) and I'm waiting for the receipt list to find out everything that's on the car. Basically here's the list:

Vortech Supercharger

Edlebrock intake

MAF (not stock but not sure which one)

equal length headers

X pipe

3.73 Gear

Not sure what size T.Body is

Somewhat fresh stock motor, not sure how many miles though

Anyway, when just normal driving, going through the gears, inbetween shifts, the R's are staying at 2K. If I'm doing say 40mph and I put the clutch in and coast, the R's stick at 2K. It's not until I come to a complete stop, do the R's go down to 1K. Normal idle is at about 800. I noticed that when I was sitting in a parking lot at idle, the R's would fluctuate between 800 and 1K every 5 seconds or so.

I had the car apart this weekend putting all the A/C components back in so I'm thinking maybe i bumped a vaccume line or something. Any insight would be greately appreciated.

Also, I drained and refilled the coolant.

hey,

i had that problem with my car... exactly the same thing. it was the TPS( throttle position sensor), i guess it got stuck and didn't regulate the idle anymore. i am positively certain that this is your proble. fix this and you will be riding smooth.

P.S- you should invest in a ford code reader, it tells you whats wrong in your car. cost...about $40.00

I just looked at the TPS, and there is a piece of tape on top covering a circle hole that shows the blade dial. I'm assuming that there should be some sort of cover or something over this. Do I need to get a new TPS or can I adjust this one? What should the voltage readings be on it?

buy a new one, they don't run for more than 80.00. the appropliate settings are in the chilton car manual, available in any auto parts store. look in the emmission controls section. you should have no problems
