Default oil pan removal

Anyone care to seuggest the best way to remove the oil pan on a fox body with the motor still in the car? I was reading my chiltons and they were suggesting removing the steering gear, the oil pump and the pickup assembly and the x pipe and blah blah blah.....soes anyone know of an easier way to do this?

This will give you enough room to get it out or just replace the gasket?

The oil pump is inside the pan. Just lift the engine up about 5 or 6 inches then pull the pan off.

Make sure to disconnect exhaust at your headers first though. If not you run the chance to break the flange or bend it and get and exhaust leak.

i just did this last weekend to change my gasket. i put it up on my friends lift and we had to take apart everything under the oil pan, it took like three hours to get everything apart, 20 minutes to scrape the old gasket off and clean everything and install the new gasket, and three more hours to put everything back on. it sucked. its probably easier than pulling the motor though.

Exhaust isnt even on the car anymore its just the shortblock in the car. was putting on my AFR heads and i decieded I would take some time to fix a couple of annoying leaks while i was at it.
