High hp and stock T5 = death to T5?
just wondering if you guys running heads and turbos/supercharger
and putting 400+hp to pavement are running stock T5's or should I
expect my trans to crap out with that kind of power?
and what clutch should I get?
will the king cobra clutch be enough?
plan on 302 w/ twistedwedge heads and 8psi blower.
should put somewhere just over 400 at the wheels i think.

Im running the Stock T5, and so far shes holding up. It all honestly depends on your driving habits. If you drive the **** out of the car sure yea the think is going to break. But if you drive it normal and only get on it every once in a while she will hold up. The stock T5 will prolly break with a 400hp car if its being drivin hard, IE Racing, droping the clutch and hard takeoffs.

yeah the T5 will be fine as long as you stay away from hard acclerations off the line and general dragging. If you use it as a DD, you'll be fine...they're decent stock.
The King Cobra clutch should be fine. Ive heard good things about RAM clutches too.

If i were you....personally after replacing 3 of them in my car alone and having the one i have crapping out right now. Id save my money and buy a tremec, cause one day a couple months after you drop that engine into you car, your gonna take off from a light, etc. and that think is gonna take a huge **** on you. If your below 340whp your prob alright driving it nice and easy and beating it up once in a while. But like they said before if you take it easy, your fine. But all it takes with 400+hp is one time and *clunk* its gone.
i only have about 300whp to and ive never ran slicks on my car either. But i drive the **** out of my car at the strip. Driving habits are hard on tranny's. But a stock T5 is going to break sooner or later with 400+hp.

thanks, probably keep it stock till I add the blower
then maybe break down and buy a super HD T5.
saw blueoval industries has em for about $1,700 and rated for 600lbs torque
really want it super reliable.

I was looking at one of those Blueoval T5's. I really like the idea of that. I want one badly so i can launch the **** out of my car at the strip and not worry about breaking my tranny again, i could run so much harder if i didnt have to worry about my POS tranny, so i never launch it. I only wish i had 1,700bucks to drop on one...[X(]

stock t-5s are actually really good trannys. what kills them is hard launches. you can probably drive it around with 400 horsies if you dont launch and drop the clutch constantly. As for clutches, I personally am sold on Spec. I have a Spec stage 2 now and its fantastic. I had a centerforce before that and i liked it too.

do it right the first time..I have gone through 4 t-5 trans w/ almost stock power...I do alot of hard launches on street tires and the trans breaks still...plus you dont want to have you weak point be your trans, cause 1 day a ricer will pull up next to you, and youll race him and then all the sudden boom, your trans is gone, and a 90 hp civic beat your 500+hp stang...its all about the peace in mind not know when your trans will leave you stranded, and worrying everytime you give it gas that the trans will break...just get a better trans for your application
