Default headers and sound difference

my current set-up is a bbk-off road h pipe and magnaflow magnapacks dumped. I want to buy headers to get rid of my stock ones but im curious what to go with. Should i go with shorty equal length or shorty unequal length? which will sound better and what size should i go with? 1 5/8" or what? my car is basically stock except for the h pipe and magnapacks, timing advance and thats all.....btw i have a 91 auto lx hatch

Personally i would say bbk ceramic coated 1 5/8" unequal, but thats just me and i dont want the hassle of equals installation. Thats what i will be getting when i do headers.

The thing that makes me not want to get the equals is I would probably end up burning ignition wires. I don't think the installation looks to bad but personally I don't think the extra 2 hp is worth buying new igntion wires every 2 months.

They require a little more clearance to install. As far as the plug wires, mine are angled boots and haven't had any problems.

no wire problems here, if you do though you can always get the DEI or equivalent boot protectors, i like the look of my equals but i bought it that way too so missed the install. i wish mine were ceramic but oh well, there still hasnt been any problem with wires.
