well i just now got my 5.0 its a 1989 5.0 lx v-8 hatch and it needs some work i have pics my next day off but i just want to know where to start and what size gears and stuff i should do?

First off; inspect & repair anything that is bad or going bad. Leaking timing seal, rear main seal, ball joints, struts, brakes, etc.

Then, I'd do gear & possibly a limited slip rebuilt too.

I agree with anthony. As for gears, hard to say without knowing what tranny you have. General rule of thumb, 3.73s for stick, 4.10s for auto. This is based on a n/a motor. Nitrous/PA cars require different gearing....sometimes.
