Default nice mods w/rebuid q?s

i just received a good bit of performance parts i purchased trick flow flow twisted wedge aluminum cylinder heads , a pretty big cam but not to big cause if i over did duration i would need different pistons, 1.6 roller rocker arms, 24 pound injectors high compression cylinder rings, and trick flow track heat intake manifold. so pretty much this is an engine rebuild that will be going on next weekend. tell me guys if i am missing anything that should be rebuilt as well while this motor will be torn down. please inform me.

If he does the build up correctly and measures everything the plastigauge will clear up whether or not hes got piston to valve issues.

I take it you are staying efi?Sure could solve a lot of your issues and needs and extra expenses by going to carb since its already apart.

actually you only need special pistons with twisted wedge if your cams duration is over 290 and i lucked out cause the one i ordered is 280 so i should be good to go on that part. BUT WHY DO YOU SAY I SHOULD GO TO CARB WHILE ITS APART? ISNT EFI MUCH MORE EFFICIENT??????

if I was going as far as changing the pistons, I would change the crank and rod bearings while I was at it. no sense pulling it down that far and not doing the bearings too. if the valves arent' bigger than 1.94/1.60, then you shouldn't have piston to valve clearance problems. my best advice is disassemble the entire motor, have the crank miked to see if it needs to be turned, and send the block out for a hot tank cleaning and new cam bearings and freeze plugs. have the machine shop check the cylinder bores to be sure the wear is not so bad the new pistons you have will still work after a light honing of the cylinders. thoroughly wash out the block and crank and all the oil passages with hot soapy water using an engine cleaning brush kit. then blow out all the passages with compressed air and let it dry. reassemble carefully checking the bearing clearances with Plastigage and install a new timing chain and gears too. no sense in putting all that new stuff in now without going the whole way and rebuilding the short block while you're at it.
