have you ever had the motor rebuilt? or had new pistons put in it? when you say it sounds like a slap noise it makes me think piston slap.. as in your piston skirts are smacking the cylinder walls.

did it do it after u put thoes items on? or did it do it before and you were trying to fix the problem? also is the car shacking/bucking when it makes the noise?

Ive never messed with the timing but I will check where the previous owner had it tomorrow. The engine doesnt buck or anything. yea my tach is out. Is the tach ran off the spedo cable connected to the back of the MPH guage?

No the engine is stock. And the problem was there before the upgrades I did tonight.

the sound you are describing sounds like chatter. 13 really shouldnt chatter but some cars are different. id turn it down just to see if thats it.

im not sure how the tach is hooked up. has the car always done this? if the piston would slap the cylinder walls it would not run long and it would knock.

hmm..and you said it doesnt do it at idle, only when you get on it a little bit. do you ever notice it on decel?

I need to have it tuned real good I think. The previous owners took the tensioner off maybe thats the problem? I just bought one and was planing on slapping it on this weekend.
