Default C4 Tranny Bad on daily driving?

Aight well im looking at a 88 Gt that has a rebuilt 302 (306) with some mods. The tranny is a C4 unit that has been rebuilt with new valve body and such. What my concern is will the 3 speed really kill me at the track over a AOD or a 5 speed T5? The rear end gears are 3.55's and the motor has Long tubes, H-Pipe (no cats), MAC Dumps, E303 cam, 1.7 Roller rockers, Scat crank and rods, forged 9.5-1 pistons, no AC or PS, electric fan, Cobra intake manifold, 70mm MAF, BBK CAI. I dont know hp/tq numbers, but it felt strong when I rode in it. Pulled about as hard as my friends Z28 with long tubes, Y pipe, catback and CAI.

Yeah, you're giving up a little bit to the T5 at least; it's hard to beat four forward gears versus three in low horsepower combo's.... I'd guess..... maybe 2-3 tenths of a second at most if you have a 3,000 converter. Keep in mind the auto is much more consistant for most people in bracket class racing......

i don't see a c4 being bad. my 96 gt with the 4.6 had a c4 in her. she was driven everyday for years before her demise

i'd say with that converter and it being a lightweight c-4 you are not giving up a whole lot to a good driver with a 5 speed.
