Main Support and Oilpan/pump Troubles

Has anyone had any problems with clearance on the DSS Main Support and the factory 302 oilpan and pickup tube. The factory oilpan does not want to fit properly. I read somewhere about shaving or notching the main support to make the oil pickup tube fit but i thought the Pan itself was supposed to go back on without any problem. I am going to contact DSS tomorrow to see which oilpan & pickup tube I should be using to clear the main support...the Canton 7 qt or the Miloden 7 qt.

Anybody have any experience with either. I want to get this thing back on the street. It has been almost a year since I had it running. Remodeling the friggin Condo has been eating up all my time and money.

BTW its a DSS 331 if that makes any difference...

Thanks

I got a canton 7 qt with my 347 and am running a main support and windage tray. I test fit it and it fit good.

Thanks.

Did the pickup tube fit OK?

Just spoke with DSS. Apparently there was an oilpan design change somewhere around 89-90 which causes a problem. They have the corrected pan for about a buck twenty. I said screw it and ordered the DSS 7 qt with pickup. Should have ordered a 7 qt to start with.

Thanks again.

You can make it work. I have a old style pan...pre 89 or whatever year they changed them. The difference is the center between the humps. On the old style it's flat, on the newer style it sloped. It was a biotch getting the pick up tube right though.
