Adjusting Timing
This may seem like a dumb question but Im going to make sure my timing is correct tonight, and I need to know the easiest way to correct it. I think the previous owner bumped it foward a little. How do I adjust it back to factory settings?

RE: Adjusting Timing
Make sure "zero" & "10BTDC" is clearly marked on balancer, attach timing light to battery & #1 plug wire, pull spout, make sure timing gun won't slip into clutch fan when you fire the car up, loosen the 1\2" headed bolt holding the dist in place, & see what you got. If the timing light is inductive; make sure the dial on the back is at "10", and you rotate the distributor to line up the pointer with the "0" on the balancer. Tighten distributor there. If you have an old non-inductive timing light(no dial); you want to match the timing pointer to the "10btdc" mark & then tighten the distributor down. lastly, reinsert spout connector.
