89 BLACK INTERIOR. VINYL HELP PLEASE. HOW TO VINYL DOOR CARPET??
 

I have an 89 mustang gt convertible that is currently gray interior. I am doing a black conversion. I have purchased some parts, and painted/dyed the others. The front door panels and rear interior quarters have carpet at the bottom. I want to put vinyl where the carpet is, this is the lower part of the door. The section is probably 4-6 inches of carpet. I have purchased the vinyl. I just need to know who to install it for the best look. What glue, screws, etc to use to get it to look its best.

What glue, adhesives, screws etc should I use to attach the vinyl to the bottom of my door panels and the bottom part of the rear interior quarters? Any suggestions, application instructions, steps, pictures if you have done this, etc would be greatly appreciated.

At autozone they have this great stuff by 3m its all purpose adhesive spray for cloth, vinyl, plastic rubber all kinds of shat. Get a bottle of it and just make sure you have a smooth surface to glue to. remove the carpet. Get a sander and get rid of all the junk. Wrap the edges and corners and your good to go.

Get a cardboard template, shape it to the shape u want, then cut out a piece of 1/8 peiece of wood add foam for texture, and cover it with vinyl, then just stick it on.

Did you use the 1/8 wood on yours? I was thinking that possibly just cardboard, or nothign at all would be fine.

How did you attach it to the door once you got the vinyl on whatever backing you used? I would think that depending on what you used, wood would be to heavy to simply use adhesive?

You can use adhesive, Bit I used screws and adhesive. But yea I went with 1/8inch wood with 1/8 of foam wrapped it around with glue let it sit in the sun and put it on took me about 2 hours.
