is a 65mm a good size TB on a stock intake? Would it be good with an aftermarket intake and heads?

Too big you dont need it that big.

65 is just enough. THe thing is that if you just get the TB you really wont feel much of a difference. You should get a MAF and CAI at least. Also before you install the TB you should put some rags into the manifold and lightly port the opening so that there is a smooth transition into the manifold.

I already have CAI, and I am getting the MAF.

What do you mean w/ the rags though?

He's talking about the TB side of the intake...the opening is only ~60mm, so you'd need to enlarge it or a bigger TB will do nothing. Most aftermarket intakes have a 70mm or possibly bigger opening for the TB.

so just get a porting kit and match the gasket to the opening and port away?

Basically. I use a permanent marker to color the part that needs to be removed. Put the gasket on and mark the parts that stick out (or in this case, stick in). Remove the gasket and just remove the part that's colored. Take your time and do it evenly. You can always remove more, but you can't put it back.
