no someone said there friend had a hard time driving in town with 4.10's?????? that stupid you would have more of a problem with 2.73's. i find nothing about driving hard, its easy and its fun.

tire size is 245/45/17 on a stock 94 Cobra, i dont think you would need 5th gear with 4.10's? in the future ill probably only do bolt-on's becaues i need to put myself through college

With a stick, don't go past 3.73.
With an auto, 4.10s should work well.
My car is a mostly stock 5.0 with a powerdyne bolted on, and with a TKO 3.73s I am going through the traps in 4th at about 5700rpms. I really would like to step down to 3.55s because I drive my car about 400 miles a week and drive the strip every chance I get. If you start to add on a little extra power, you can make up for that little extra gear, and still pull harder than most. My car is great on the top end, but there is so little tractio in first, and the first two gears go by way too fast... I think the 355s would be the way to go.

and whoever went off ranting and raving, it really all comes down to what a person wants. For you 3.55s may not be enough, but for what I use and want my car for they're perfect. If i took ur stupid advice and got 4.10s i would be very pissed at you, my friend's 03 had 4.10s and they were cool for a while but i thought they were really too much most of the time. And Im sorry but if you call someone a ***** that doesnt like a really low gear than you need to get a life.

dude i'm not even gonna read all these.
first off, anyone who has NOT driven a 5-speed w/ 4.10's should not be giving advice.
an ethiopian eating a worm might be happy...but give him a big mac and he's stoked for a week.
so here's the real deal.
you need nothing to compensate for the 4.10's as far as computer. you do need to correct the speedo, which you cannot do fully without getting inside the trans.
to fully correct the speedo you need a 6 tooth drive gear and a 19 tooth driven gear. the driven is the ez one to replace
the drive gear is clipped on the output shaft and requires a dissassembly. your trans will have a 7t drive gear and w/ a 21 t it will be corrected for 3.73's
you can get a 23t but but it will chew up fast since they ARE NOT FORD PARTS...they are from chrysler.
anyways...my '89 w/ 4.10's and et streets , southsides, and lt's went 13.20's all stock motor.
so the proof is the pudding.
4.10's are going in my current car tonight or tomorrow.
i would suggest you jack up the back and check what gear you have now, if your running out of 1st gear already the car is already geared. 2.73's will almost bog from the dig
you can check your door tag to see what was stock... "ax code" m=2.73 z=3.08 e=3.27 (aods only)
but count the ds rotation to 1 complete revolution of the tire for your gear ratio

Good post, I would like some advice(sorry to hijack, didnt want to clutter forums)
I have a 93 lx 5.0 5 speed, its a summer car, that is city driven, and RARELY ever goes on the highway. I dont commute very far(3-4 miles a DAY). do you think I would be ok with 4.10s? Right now the engine is stock(internally) but I will get H/C/I in 2 years time. Are 4.10s good or 3.90's? The car has 3.27's cause it used to be an automatic(tranny swap) and I want to make sure to be able to feel the difference, and get the best bang for my buck)
