Default weared noise

When i start up my 89 and it is cold the car starts to squeel it squeels until it gets to the temp of about 140 it stops do you guys know what bearing it is that is squeeling.

my belt is like new and has no wear on it but i dont know I just thought it was the bearing

Yea dude...squealing is your belt. Do you know where your belt tensioner is? If not...it's right next to your alternator. There is a belt strength guage. When it is loose...it will get closer to the bottom (or is it top?). At any rate...if it's not in the middle of the guage...best bet is to get a new serpentine belt.

If your belt is some what new try to put soap on it. The noise should go away. If it was a bearing I would think the noise would not go away.

What's "the bearing". What bearing are you talking about?

Go do this. Start the car up...spray some windex on the belt...if squeal goes away then get a new belt.

Hey man, I bet $10 its your belt. Check the tensioner and see if it is between the proper tension area. And then try the soap trick, if it quites swealing when you put soap on it then its the belt.
