Hello, im new with questions.
Hello everyone, im looking around for a 86-93 5.0 mustang and ive got a few basic questions, first of all i have a 01 focus so this will be exclusively a track/weekend car, id be looking at doing an sc setup (vortech) full exhaust blah blah, so i was wondering if this would be a goodroute and if theres anything i should be looking for when test driving a 5.0 or any advice about these cars.

RE: Hello, im new with questions.
Notch back will be lightest
89 and older will have no air bags.
89 and newer will MAF, older is speed density
Drive trains are pretty bullet proof if it's been taken care of.
expect normal 15+ year old car problems. ( water pump, power windows, shocks, the normal stuff )
Other than that great cars with tons of aftermarket upgrades
available.
If you can find one with mods already done you can save some
money, but then you wont have exactly what you want on it.

Not sure what you mean by '86 and older is carb for v8's' but the last year of the carb on mustangs was 85'. 225 HP. I owned one. '86 was the first year of the fuel injection (the HP dropped, but I think the torque went up). Don't mean to correct you if I don't understand what you were saying.

thanks for all the responses, after looking through a bunch of for sale ads and stuff id like to know a few things, what kind of mileage should i be looking for in one of these, and how long will the 5.0 typically run? also what is a typical rebuild cost, i know on my focus its extremely expensive and thats something i wpould like to stay away from.

RE: Hello, im new with questions.
youll be hard pressed to find a pre 90 car with under 100,000miles. if you do itll be expensive. 91 and above would be your best bet for lower mileage. but if you want to build the whole motor then the mileage wont matter too much
