H-Pipe

H-Pipe
I just won a H-Pipe on the Bay. I currently have a Flowmaster cat back setup with the factory cat pipes. Is there going to be a 'noticable' sound difference? I think it's fairly throaty now, just wondering what to expect. What about performance? Noticable gains?
Thanks

RE: H-Pipe
i was actually wondering the same thing... because i'm getting a flowmaster catback as well and wanted to know whether or not to run factory cats or o/r h-pipe it. i just don't want it to be annoyingly loud (i.e. can't have a conversation with someone if windows are down). tcwc, how loud is your system right now with the stock cats on there?

RE: H-Pipe
I think if you remove the cats you will be happy. I have a h-pipe and flowmasters behind some BBK Shorties and I love the sound. Its loud but not to the point where it is obnoxius.

RE: H-Pipe
Well, as i've said in the past, i've owned an 82, 83, 84,85, 87, and now an 86. None have had a flowmaster cat back system (unit this 86). They all sounded 'throaty'. This one sounds 'really throaty'. Loudest stang i've had. It sound's good now (not like your typical Nova or Chevelle that has full lengh headers with 'cherry bombs'). I call that sound 'loud'. Mine now sounds like 'power' (even though the engine is stock (i think). Can't wait to see what the cat-less H-Pipe does for the sound. I don't think it will be 'annoying loud' like the chevy's sound. Good luck!!!
